Photo Friday: Oktoberfest at Night
Not a great picture, but it's not easy to frame a good shot after drinking several steins of beer with over 100,000 people at the Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. Tomorrow is the first day of October, which means, for those of you who don't know, that the Oktoberfest is ending, not beginning. Opening day this year was September 17th, and the festival closes on October 3rd.
Great shot! I am dying to do Octoberfest!!!
ReplyDeleteWith or without kids ;-)
Once again I missed Oktoberfest in our neighborhood. Can someone remind me why it's called Oktoberfest when it takes place in Sept? :-)
ReplyDeleteI would love to visit Germany during Oktoberfest! Fun picture!
ReplyDeleteI always fancied dressing up in a dirndl although I'm not a great beer drinker
ReplyDeleteMuch better than any shots I've attempted to take at night! Do kids go to Oktoberfest or is it an adult-only experience? Would like to go someday but not sure if I have to wait until the kids grow up.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those items on my hubby's (not mine) bucket list . . . I figure it's only fun if either the kids aren't with us or are old enough to chug beers beside us (though THAT would be weird!)
ReplyDeleteI watched a special on TBS about Oktoberfest, it was great... I'll make it a point to go at least once experience it. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Oktoberfest in Germany, but Burundi had one! There were just enough German expats there and they imported some of the best food we could get all year.
ReplyDeleteThis year we're in Hyderabad. The city-wide celebration was cancelled, so we scrounged up all the sausages we could find (not easy and not cheap in a Muslim/Hindu city) and had an Oktoberfest party for our friends last night. We had a lot of fun even though there was very little about it that was traditional.
I wouldn't have a problem taking kids. I, personally, spent many childhood weekends at German beer fests and survived - even enjoyed them. The Oktoberfest is like a carnival with lots of games and rides. It's family fun!
